A life-saving charity which has attended more than 7,300 incidents in the 10 years since its launch. M2S Media has been commissioned to work with the charity to raise its profile in the media to assist with encouraging fund-raising and recruiting supporters, and to produce a quarterly magazine for the public and supporters alike.
Blackdown Children’s Day Nursery
This entrepreneur-owned children’s nursery on the edge of the Blackdown Hills, in Somerset, hired M2S Media for a long-term programme of press release and photocall work before it even opened in May, 2009. It has been rewarded with a regular profile in the local and regional media which has helped drive a steady programme of expansion through giving more and more parents the confidence to send their children to the nursery. New jobs for local people have also been created by the expansion of the business.
The Full Quart
This North Somerset pub on a main route into Bristol was given a new lease of life in 2009 when it was taken over by a Bridgwater couple who now run it as a family business. M2S Media was asked to provide an ad hoc full media and public relations service placing an emphasis on local media as the owners followed the old adage that people trust what they read in their local weekly papers.
Chuckles Childcare
A rural Devon village childcare business founded by an international product manager for a major Somerset firm who decided she wanted out of the rat race. M2S Media provided launch PR in the local and regional press and radio to raise awareness of the business and attract parents to make inquiries. This work was costed and completed as a one-off, targeted project in a given timeframe.


Zornada Fitness
This one-woman business was launched in Somerset by a new mum who had moved from South Africa and was shocked to discover there were no suitable fitness classes for pregnant women and those who had recently given birth. M2S Media was engaged for a short-term programme of pre and post-launch PR using the local and regional press and radio to raise awareness and drive potential customers to the business. The work was completed at a fixed-price sum over a fixed timeframe with targeted media. The business has since relocated to the Midlands.

Endometriosis UK
M2S Media was asked to provide pre and post-launch PR for two new branches in Somerset to widen the reach of this national charity which represents and provides support for two million UK women who suffer with the disease. Local and regional media were targeted in a one-off campaign to raise awareness of the branches and drive new members and supporters to them.


Bristol Crisis Service for Women
As part of the M2S Media pro bono portfolio, a PR strategy was prepared completely from scratch for this regional women’s charity which supports women in emotional distress and those who self-harm, and which has aspirations to become a national charity.


Active Exmoor
This now well-established sports tourism project which supports Exmoor’s outdoor activity industry was initially a fixed-term project and M2S Media was used to provide pre and post-launch PR during its first 12 months to raise awareness of it and encourage organisations to both join and help provide funding.


Caraquan
An ‘as needs’ ongoing PR and media support package is provided to this small Somerset environmental campaign organisation which engages local people in debate and actions around issues ranging from sustainability and global warming to GM foodstuffs and new road building.


West Somerset District Council
The third-smallest district council in England, this local authority found itself unable to afford its own public relations officer and so for four years M2S Media provided a full outsourced PR and media service covering every aspect of the council’s work and supporting its senior management team and other officers, as well as elected cabinet members and other councillors. The workload included writing and distributing every council press release during that time; liaising with and supporting and advising local authority stakeholders ranging from disability groups and housing associations to Government Departments and Ministers; planning and organising events and festivals; fund-raising support; the inevitable corporate and political crises PR support; producing a twice-yearly community newspaper and a quarterly business magazine; content management of the news section of the council’s website.

A full media and public relations package was commissioned from M2S Media to cover the pre-launch and early operating weeks of this small South Somerset enterprise providing high-quality personal care support to enable people to live independent lives in their own homes.


Pets & Aquaria
M2S Media provided a full media and public relations service to this family-run traditional Devon and Cornwall business which offered customers ‘old-fashioned’ personal service complete with home delivery of pets supplies, right up until the retirement of the last of the family in 2010.


Minehead Coastal Towns Initiative
A comprehensive PR strategy and on-going media support was provided by M2S Media to this Government and South West Rural Development Agency-sponsored project set up to help rejuvenate and regenerate the resort of Minehead and its hinterland.


Moor 2 Shore Festival/ARTLife

Exmoor Food Festival
After just three years, this annual 10-day festival of local foodstuffs in the land of Lorna Doone and red deer has established a national reputation and attracted much television coverage thanks to the promotional and public relations support and event management services M2S Media gives to Somerset Food Links.


Barbecue Lodges Ltd
This farm diversification business on the edge of Exmoor wanted to be featured in the glossy weekend supplements of regional newspapers and in a range of country sports and homes magazines, and duly commissioned M2S to achieve its aims, leading directly to new sales inquiries from around the country.


Family Gathering Ltd
Glastonbury-based organisers of the Sunrise Celebration, the UK’s leading sustainable festival which ushered in a new generation of ecologically-based music and educational events. M2S was commissioned for a mix of media campaigning, community liaison, and political lobbying skills. The media work involved blitzing the press, radio, and television across the South West, South, Midlands, and Wales, using news about those taking part in this five-day festival, to generate ticket sales. Community liaison involved communicating with local communities and residents groups to address their concerns and keep them fully informed, creating a template of hand-delivered newsletters, public and parish meetings, press announcements, festival site tours, internet website access, one-to-one discussions, and 24-hour personal phone contact – a model now used by other festivals. Political lobbying successfully resulted in the local authority granting of the festival’s 24-hour licence after a highly-personal campaign targeting MPs, district and county councillors, and licensing committee members and officers.

Plymouth Prideevent
The largest Gay Pride event in Devon and Cornwall, this annual LGBT festival in Plymouth now has charity status. The Real Brides Show
The longest-running and largest event in the Westcountry for brides and everything else to do with weddings and civil partnerships, this show is held twice a year in the spring and in the autumn. Skills Quest CIC
When this not-for-profit Community Interest Company wanted to raise the profile of its work in providing ICT skills training for vulnerable people, it turned to M2S Media to commission a series of media releases and photos which did just that, resulting not only in more awareness among potential funders but also more inquiries from people in need of training and from those wishing to volunteer to help.


Wellington Food Town
The launch PR and media support provided by M2S Media for this local authority-backed three-year community initiative helped to attract a staggering 5,000 people to the inaugural festival, more than five times the total the steering group had hoped for. TJW Exhibitions Ltd
Until this Taunton-based firm was bought out by a larger company in Colchester, M2S Media provided a corporate PR service to raise awareness of TJW as an employer and an event organiser, both in the local and trade media.


The Crier
A free monthly newspaper in West Somerset, established in 1994, which grew to 40 full-colour tabloid pages. Over several years, M2S Media provided a complete suite of editorial services, including sourcing and writing news and feature articles, editing, page lay-out and design, digital photography, commissioning freelance work, and uploading and maintaining the paper’s news website.


West Somerset Post
A free weekly full-colour tabloid newspaper circulating in West Somerset, which evolved from changes to its predecessor The Crier. M2S Media oversaw the transition from monthly to fortnightly publishing, and then to weekly production, and provides the paper’s entire editorial services, including sourcing and writing news and feature articles, editing, page lay-out and design, digital photography, commissioning freelance work, print finishing the pages, liaising with printers, and uploading and maintaining the paper’s news website.
