M2S Media client Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance were able to get up close and personal with their patron Jenson Button when they went along to see him given the honourary title of ‘Freedom of Frome’.
Hearts were all a flutter amongst the women at the air ambulance admin headquarters in Wellington when they were invited to Jenson’s home town to see the Formula 1 World Champion formally presented with the special honour.
About 3,000 fans turned out for the ceremony in Frome and Jenson also visited schools in the area before accepting the honour from Mayor Damon Hooton in the Cattle Market car park, by the Cheese and Grain building.
Jenson has been one of the life-saving charity’s patrons since it was launched nearly 10 years ago.
The honour came just six months after Jensen was crowned Formula One World Champion.
Charlotte Routley, charity manager for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, told Jenson his achievement had ‘brought great honour to the county of Somerset in particular and to the country as a whole, and we have been delighted that you should wish to be associated with our lifesaving charity by acting as one of our patrons’.
